In 1962 Ferrari sold customers their 250 GTO for $18,000. At that time one could purchase 14.43kg of gold for the same $18,000. Today if you had bought gold, the 14.43kg of gold would be worth $799,683 a reasonable 4,442% return over 58 years, but only 1/60th of what a Ferrari 250 GTO is worth today ($48,405,000).
